If you know “Stone’s Throw” by the Red Clay Strays — and if you’ve been anywhere near Americana radio you do — then you already know Eric Erdman’s pen, you just might not know his name yet.
Erdman brought “12 Notes and 26 Letters,” his latest release co-written with Scott Sean White, to The Local in Nashville on May 6th, and it fit right alongside the rest of a catalog that has been quietly punching above its weight for years. He’s the kind of writer who makes a room feel smaller and warmer — the troubadour in the truest sense, guitar in hand, stories that land like they were written specifically for whoever is listening.
The credentials are hard to ignore once you start pulling the thread. “Stone’s Throw” appears on the Red Clay Strays’ Moments to Remember and their Live at The Ryman album. “Caddo County,” co-written with Dave Cobb and the Red Clay Strays, landed on the 2025 Grammy-nominated Twisters soundtrack. His album Enough cracked the Top 20 on the iTunes Country chart. His most-streamed track, “The Softer Side of Diamonds,” is the kind of song that makes you wonder how he isn’t a household name yet. He honed his craft at FAME Studios, and the education shows.
